Resizing Pictures with Microsoft Paint and Mac iPhoto

Resizing Pictures with Microsoft Paint

When uploading pictures to your sites, you should check the file size. If the image is larger than a few hundred KB you may wish to resize first before uploading them. Large file sizes can slow the load time of your site; this is particularly noticeable for users on dial-up or other slower internet connections.

This KB article will detail how you can resize the images via Paint.

1. Right click on the image you wish to edit and select Open With and select Paint from the dropdown.

2. In Paint, click on Image -> Stretch/Skew and put the same number in Horizontal and Vertical, preferably around 30 - 50%, if you dont like the resized image, click on Edit and Undo to revert back to original size. Click OK if you like the re-sized picture. Click on File and Save As and save your image as a .jpg with a dfferent name so you will always have the original unedited picture. Done

For Mac users:

In iPhoto 06 you need to select an image, or images, click on File | Export, then specify image size, location and finally export.
